Ascent for Alzheimer's Fundraiser - The Summerhill and Pacific Arbour

Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro for Alzheimer's Disease

On August 30th, 2012, The Summerhill Retirement Residence was proud to present two cheques of $1,166.76 each to Martin and Esther Kafer, two 85 year old mountain climbers who will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro next month to support the BC Alzheimers Association’s Ascent for Alzheimer’s.  Martin and Esther plan on collecting $10,000 each in donations and will pay for their own expenses allowing 100% of the proceeds to be used directly for Alzheimer’s research. The Summerhill residents collected the funds through various fundraising activities and personal donations and Pacific Arbour Retirement Communities generously matched the amount in support of the cause.

Neighbours Sustaining Sponsorship

Artist for Kids Gallery

The Summerhill Retirement Residence, a Pacific Arbour Retirement Community, will be a neighbour of the new Gordon Smith Gallery. Pacific Arbour Founder and Chairman, Mr. Müller is an ardent believer in the value art brings to a healthy community. His support helps to establish a firm, financial foundation for our community’s new cultural asset.

The Gordon Smith Gallery of Canadian Art is pleased to announce our first private, gallery-specific donation. Rainer Müller, has pledged $150,000 over ten years, providing us with much-needed funds for our new Gallery’s operating budget.
